Know what to expect before you arrive
Unknown gates and hazards to a clear picture before you go
What We Heard
After helping a neighbor, a volunteer shared a few things that would help others arrive ready: a heads-up about how wide a gate is (a mower does not always fit through), a note about yard hazards like an exposed septic lid on a slope, and a recent photo of the yard. The same feedback flagged that a listed phone number can reach a dead voicemail box, and that some neighbors need a way to connect beyond a phone call.
What Improved
The request form now includes a short Yard Snapshot — how wide the gate is, notes about slopes and hazards (including exposed covers like septic lids), and an invitation to add a recent photo of the yard. Connecting now offers text messaging alongside calls, so a single unreachable number no longer stops a match.
Why It Matters
Volunteers can bring the right equipment and arrive with fewer surprises, and neighbors who cannot easily use a phone still have a way to connect.

“I ran into a gate size issue where my machine would not fit through. That would be good to know.”
