Supporting Veterans Who Served
How It Works
- Veterans self-report their service on our intake form when requesting help.
- Those who upload documentation (DD-214 or VA paperwork) advance to "Doc Submitted" status.
- Our team reviews the documentation and verifies the veteran's service record.
- Verified veterans receive priority matching with available volunteers in their area.
Privacy & Respect
- We never share exact disability ratings publicly. Volunteers see badge tiers, not percentages.
- Verification data helps us prioritize service and report impact โ never to judge.
- Veterans always control what they share. Disability information is completely optional.
- All uploaded documents are stored securely and accessed only by authorized team members.
By The Numbers
Your Service Didn't End When You Took Off the Uniform.
Some of our most dedicated volunteers are veterans themselves. They know what it means to show up for someone who served. Whether you're retired, transitioning, or still active โ there's a yard near you that needs exactly the kind of discipline, follow-through, and heart you already have.
Register as a VolunteerActive-Duty? Your Volunteer Hours With IWTMYL Count Toward the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
Every hour you spend helping a veteran or elderly neighbor through IWTMYL is documented community service. We provide official hour verification letters on nonprofit letterhead โ the documentation you need for MOVSM nomination packets. No long-term commitment. One yard, one visit, real impact. Requirements vary by service and unit โ consult your chain of command for local guidance.

What Volunteers See
When volunteers browse open requests, veteran homeowners display badge indicators based on their verification tier. This gives volunteers immediate context for empathy and prioritization โ without exposing sensitive details.
Exact disability percentages are never shown publicly. Only the tier badge is visible.
