Why This Partnership Matters

Code Violations Shouldn’t Punish People Who Need Help

Many residents receiving property maintenance violations are elderly, disabled, veterans, or families experiencing hardship. They aren’t neglecting their homes โ€” they physically or financially cannot keep up.

โš ๏ธ

Without a Referral Partner

Violation notice issued
Resident unable to comply
Fines accumulate
Liens or legal action follow
Resident loses dignity and resources
Problem recurs every season

โœ…

With IWTMYL as a Partner

Officer identifies resident in need
Resident calls or submits a request online
Volunteer matched in their area
Lawn care provided โ€” free of charge
Resident stays in compliance with dignity
Ongoing support available, not just one visit

Who We Serve

Your Most Vulnerable Residents Are Our Priority

๐Ÿ‘ด

Older Adults

Neighbors who built and maintained their homes for decades, now facing physical limitations that make outdoor upkeep a daily struggle.

๐ŸŽ–๏ธ

Veterans

Those who served our country deserve to come home to a well-kept space. Many live alone, face mobility challenges, or lack the resources to hire help.

๐Ÿ

Neighbors in Need

Disability, recovery from illness, financial hardship โ€” life can make the outdoors inaccessible. A clean yard is a small gesture with a lasting impact.

How It Works

Three Simple Steps to Connect a Resident With Help

1

Identify a Resident in Need

During routine inspections, community events, or through resident outreach, your office identifies someone who cannot maintain their property due to age, disability, veteran status, or hardship.

2

Share the Request Line

Give the resident our phone number โ€” 862-66-MOWER โ€” or direct them to iwanttomowyourlawn.com to submit a service request. Having the homeowner reach out directly is the fastest way to get them help. You can also include our flyer with official notices.

3

Volunteer Is Matched

We match the resident with a registered, background-checked volunteer in their area. The volunteer provides free lawn care โ€” mowing, trimming, and basic cleanup. No cost to the resident or your office.

Lowest-friction referral: Hand the resident a flyer or tell them, “Call 862-66-MOWER or go to iwanttomowyourlawn.com.” When the homeowner submits the request themselves, it gets into our system faster and with their preferred contact info.

In 2020, I looked around my community and saw neighbors completely isolated โ€” unable to leave their homes, unable to keep up with the simplest outdoor tasks. I knew the world needed an act of service that was tangible, consistent, and deeply human.

Questions from Municipal Partners

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there any cost to our city or the resident?
No. All services are provided free of charge. IWTMYL is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit funded through donations, grants, and community support. There is no cost to the resident, your office, or the municipality.
Are the volunteers vetted?
Yes. All volunteers complete a registration process that includes a background check. Volunteers are matched to service requests in their area and are reviewed on our Expectations of Service guidelines.
What services do volunteers provide?
Volunteers primarily provide lawn mowing, trimming, edging, and basic yard cleanup. This is temporary relief โ€” the goal is to help residents stay in compliance and maintain dignity while facing a difficult season of life.
Can we include your information in violation notices?
Absolutely. We encourage it. You can include our phone number (862-66-MOWER), website, or print the resident referral flyer to enclose with official letters. The easiest path: tell the resident to call us or go to our website directly.
Is this available in our state?
IWTMYL has registered volunteers in all 50 states. Coverage varies by area, but we are actively growing our volunteer network and can work with your office to recruit additional volunteers locally.
Should our office submit the request, or the resident?
We recommend having the resident submit the request directly โ€” either by calling 862-66-MOWER or visiting iwanttomowyourlawn.com. This is the fastest path because it goes straight into our matching system with the resident’s contact info. Your role is to connect them with us; we handle everything from there.
Can we send a press release about the partnership?
Yes! We provide a fill-in-the-blank press release template in our downloads section above. Just add your city name, your quote, and send it to your local newspaper, TV station, or radio station. We’re happy to review it before you send if you’d like.
How do we formalize a partnership?
It starts with a simple conversation. Use the form below to introduce your office and we’ll follow up to discuss the best approach for your community. There’s no formal contract required โ€” we work with partners at whatever level is comfortable.
